How To Build Healthy Habits
Affecting change in your life can be difficult for anyone, even those who say they can deal with change and can handle it easily can be affected by it. Change can be hard on anyone but taking that step and initiating that change is the most significant step. Everyone has something in their life that they would like to change, regardless if it's a new year or just another day on the calendar. We all have something that we wake up and realize that we want to change for the better and the sake of our everyday lives.
One of those changing factors can include changing those negative/ bad habits of yours. We all have them, and it may be affecting us in negative ways that we may not realize because we have become so accustomed to them. Building healthy habits for yourself is not only beneficial to your health but also your daily life. Whether it be work, family, friends, or spouse relationships, it could be anything.
Building up healthy habits for yourself can seem like a challenge and something that you " don't have time for," but it's easily something that you can engrave into your mind and incorporate it into your daily schedule and sure see a change in yourself.
Identify these unhealthy habits.
First things first are coming to terms with that you have unhealthy habits and identifying what they are. Now, remember, these unhealthy habits don't have to have anything to do with eating right or working out, but if that's one of them, then write that down. This could be something like being down on yourself, speaking negatively, or even not going outside enough. Identify that harmful habit that you have and write it down.
Identifying your negative/unhealthy habit is the key to accepting that you have one in the first place, and remember there is nothing wrong with that. Admitting that you have this harmful habit is the key to helping yourself succeed.
Find a way to make them positive.
Change up the way to see things or your environment. For example, if you are trying to stay/be more positive, but you have that one friend that may be negative and fuel your negative side, then change how much time you spend with them or have them acknowledge that they are negative, and you're trying to stay away from that. Figure out ways that you can make healthier choices. Figure out ways to turn these negative habits into positive ones.
Ask for help if you need it.
Don't think that you have to do this alone. Yes, these are the negative habits that you have to change, but that doesn't mean you have to take on this journey yourself. If you need guidance or just a support system, seek out someone you feel will be best fitted to help you out.
Track your progress
This is the best thing that you can do during this whole progress. TRACK YOURSELF. Seeing your progress that you've made is such a rewarding thing that you can do for yourself. Whether you are writing it down or videotaping yourself, making voice memos, whatever the case may be, make a note of those little victories you've had.
Pat yourself on the back
Don't forget to reward yourself in the process, and make these rewards meaningful will make the process more exciting. Whether it's buying yourself something or only just taking some time out for yourself, make sure you give yourself an award for all the hard work you have put. You have dedicated your time to doing yourself some good, so go ahead and be ashamed of rewarding yourself.
Remember, it takes time.
Lastly, remember this process takes time. Just as it took time to learn how to ride a bike, tie your shoe, brush your teeth, they were all a day-to-day process you had to learn and get better at. The same goes for this process as well. It's going to take time, but trust the process and don't give up you will see results and that light at the end of the tunnel. You will have good days and bad days but remember this is all a part of the process, and it will work out in the end.
