5 Journal Prompts to Find Yourself
Putting pen to paper has proved to be more beneficial for me than I could have ever imagined. I have always struggled to keep a consistent habit of journaling my day. I have the desire to… but some days the words aren’t there. Some days my thoughts are all over the place. Some days I lack motivation.
Living this “new normal”, in a worldwide pandemic, I started to lose myself. I no longer had a job. My daily routine was no longer the same. My anxiety was increasing. I started doubting myself. To cope with these new challenges, I decided it was time to create new healthy habits that benefit my mental health.
I decided to start writing out my daily to-dos, things I wanted to accomplish during that day to help me feel productive. When I felt more productive, I felt better about myself. Whether I accomplished my house chores, school assignments, or took a nice walk, all helped me feel more like myself, more productive. Daily journaling has helped me find my calling, identify my strengths, and improve my weaknesses.
It has helped me organize my thoughts, my goals, and my intentions. Anytime I feel “lost” I can revisit old entries for motivation or create a new one to work through my feelings and current mental state.
Journal Prompts I Use to Find Myself:
1. What task do I want to accomplish today?
2. Does this align with my goals for this week?
3. How do I feel at this moment? What emotions can I identify?
4. What are my intentions? Who do I want to be?
5. What steps can I take to be more productive? What steps can I take to bring enjoyment back into my day?
Finding ways to express what is on my mind through the use of pen and paper has proved to be very beneficial. It has helped me find myself and continually align my goals with my life intention: to inspire, to create, to empower.
