How To Overcome A Fog In Your System
Do you ever just wake up one day and feel like a fog is just following you around? Then you realize months have gone by and you're still in this mood and haven't accomplished anything? Yes, I'm pretty sure we've all felt this or currently feeling this now.
With the pandemic going on all around the world, jobs closing, some not knowing where their next meal is coming from or some are just not feeling motivated. This fog is going around and it doesn't want to leave anytime soon but not in this case we are getting rid of that fog and stepping back into ourselves.
Feeling this way is not the best feeling and can really take a toll on your personal and work life. It can affect your job, relationship with family and friends, how you manage your time, it can take a hold of anything really and just turn it into darkness.
It's like those cartoons where you see the rain cloud just hovering over the character drenching them every step they take.
It's hard to get out of this, speaking for myself it's hard and sometimes you ask if this is the only way that things are going to get better and you may feel better when you are in the fog but in reality you aren't doing anything but harming yourself. You are starting to acquire bad habits and a bad attitude but you don't seem to notice.
Most when stuck in this fog don’t know that they are in this negative situation and some choose to mop, willow, and bathe in their pity.
This is where it gets worse and before you know it months and sometimes years have gone by where you are in this routine where you feel this way. It's your normal routine, it's that you've altered it to fit the way that you are feeling right now.
The reality of this situation is that you can't live this way no one can. The negativity has taken over your body and you've chosen to accept it but now it's time to accept it and acknowledge it but know there is a way to fix it and get out.
If you are stuck and don't know where to start, remember that you have already started by acknowledging that you are in a fog and you don't like the way you feel and you're ready to get out of this fog. If you need a nudge Healthline has a list of ways of how you can get out of this fog and rut.
There are many other options that you can go for as well.
A therapist
Working out
Being in nature/ Taking time outside
Doing something you love
Journaling
Talking (family, friends, spouses)
Opening up about your fog and taking that first step on trying to fix it will make you feel better without even knowing that it did. Going through these types of phases in your life is okay, because its just a phase that you are passing through to get you to somewhere better (ex. your dreams, hopes, etc.)
You're bettering yourself for this next journey in your life, and that some exciting stuff. Just remember that this is normal and there is nothing "wrong" or "out of place" with you everyone goes through these moments and its seems like another challenge or obstacle put in your way but you just have to remember what a strong, resilient, and powerful person who can overcome anything.
“You can choose to let whatever happened today carry into your tomorrow, or you can choose to shake it off, stop taking yourself so serious, realize you’re going to get some things wrong, and respect yourself for having it in you to keep trying until you get it right. That’s strength. Give yourself more credit. You’re not broken, you’re building and growing, it takes time to be whole. Change what you speak over yourself.” ~Rob Hill Sr. entrepreneur and motivational speaker
