How To Avoid Overwhelming Emotions
Everyone is filled with desires and has expectations. We all have and know what we would like to have, to become and have as ours.
The problem is a lot of us are measuring our expectations with an image that we consider, as individuals, as the peak. Anything that is not equal to that is not good enough. That forms the basis of how frustration sets in and perfectionism arises.
While it is good to define our goals. Find balance, know when you are being too tough on yourself. While it is good to dream big, do not put yourself on overdrive or set unsurmountable dreams.
Setting overly high expectations may result in you becoming a perfectionist. You get a critical eye and then, begin to analyze and over-analyze situations and results.
You may develop the fear of failure and begin to focus a lot more on the results rather than the process. Not that focusing on results is bad but dedicating that time to the process will help you achieve better results. It will also give you maximum amounts of satisfaction.
When you do not get what you expect, give yourself time to breathe over it. It may seem difficult but the best thing to do is not to ruminate over it. Eventually, focus more on what could have been done better and not what went wrong. Try it again if you can.
One of the best ways to achieve efficiency in achieving the best results is to set goals and expectations in stages. Give yourself milestones for achieving these results.
Know when it is time to let go of expectations that will not serve you in the long run. Or better still, redefine your expectations. Take time to review them. The world is gradually filled with unsatisfied people.
Do not become one of them. You are a strong woman. It took guts and grit to get to where you are, to even have such expectations in the first place. Know when to fall back and strategize. The world is yours for the taking.
