10 Travel Tips You Need To Know

Before the age of 17, I had lived in over 6 countries, and successfully travelled to 10+. By the age of 27, I had been over 100 flights and its safe to safe to say, me and travel had become somewhat of friends. Besties, some might call it.

As I got older, I realized that, there were easier ways for me travel. I’d love to share them with you here.

  1. PREPARE TO PACK: Make a list of all items you need to pack prior to your travel

  2. TRAVEL SMARTER: Carry a backpack or duffel as your personal item. Its much easier to run to meet your flight, with a backpack than it is with a purse or fashion handbag. (Trust me, I have tried)

  3. GET TSA PRECHECK : If you travel routinely, you will find yourself getting more and more agitated having to take off your shoes before every security check point, unload your electronics and wait in a long line. Come on, your time is money. So let’s make the most of it. If you can quality, I suggest you get TSA Precheck, Clear and Global Entry. Yes, the trifecta. Not only will you safe yourself time, (which is the most valuable asset), but you will also be able to travel with ease and comfort.

  4. SIGN UP FOR FLIGHT NOTIFICATIONS: Always sign up for flight notifications. Gate changes, flight time changes, happen in a matter of minutes. Make sure you are ready to adapt to those changes on the fly as well. I preferably download the airline app on my device, so i can get push notifications straight to it. You’ll thank me for this one!

  5. MAKE COPIES OF IDS: Yes, you need to have a photocopy of your passport, drivers license, TSA Precheck number, global entry card, etc everything on your phone and available via email in the event that you lose your phone, or access to your personal item. It’s important to prefer for everything. The last thing you want to do is be stranded in a foreign city, with no form of identification.

  6. TRAVEL LIGHT: Do you ever look at the lady with 2 luggages, one carry on ad one personal item, and wonder to yourself, ‘where the heck is she going?’. I do, all the time. When I became a minimalist, i began to notice the intensity with which we as women, acquire and own things, and the way we travel. You shouldn’t have to be weighed down by excess. It makes travel burdensome. You should be able to walk freely around the airport, and hop in and out of cities without having to take responsibility for a whole load of stuff.

  7. 360 ROLLING CARRY ON LUGGAGE: Guys, this one is my favorite. I refuse to travel with anything less. With these carry ons you have the ability to glide through the airport, without the extra stress of dragging your carry on behind you. Also, ditch the duffel bag, unless you are trying to build muscle at the airport. Why take on that much weight on your arms or shoulders. Invest in a 360 rolling carry on and watch your worries fly away. Also, always have a photo of your luggage. In the event that you are the lucky recipient of a ‘Lost Luggage’ notification, it will help you help the airlines, easily identify and return your luggage to you. So take photos and always have a name tag on your luggage for easy identification.

  8. PACK THE RIGHT ACCESSORIES: You ever get to and the charging port next to you, doesn’t work. If you haven’t lucky you, however if you travel almost half the year, you’re bound to run into this situation. Its important to have a portable charger, so you are always prepared. Have a nice headset, usb cables,

  9. CARRY AN INSULATED WATER BOTTLE: Sister, you do not need to spend triple the price for water at the airport. Come on girl, your savvier than this. Instead always carry your insulated water bottle, and you can fill it up with the courtesy fountains AFTER you get past the security check. Remember, before getting past security you will be required to dispose of the water in your bottle if its over a certain quantity.

  10. GO MOBILE: Thats right. You need to roll with the times. If you have a smart phone, download your boarding pass in advance. Or print this out prior to arriving at the airport. You never know whats waiting for you at the airport, there could be long lines or faulty machines, which could cost your valuable time and in some case (like mine) cause you to miss your flight.

I hope this has helped you some. If you have an additional tips or hacks, please share it below! I’d love to see what I am missing and perfect my travels!
