Dealing With Your Inner Critic
Have you been wondering why you have been so slow in getting things done? Or you have been wondering why your creative energy is not as high as it used to be? Well, you talked yourself out of it. With your inner critic.
Your inner critic is fear screaming all through your body. It slowly enters into your subconscious telling you things that probably no one has ever told you. Creating doubts and fear until it finally shuts you down or stops you from doing what you want the most.
It grows from feelings of frustration to anxiety and a sense of underachievement. It’s a very big shift in perspective from what things truly are to an illusion.
Steps To Deal With Your Inner Critic.
Recognizing you made a mistake is good. Letting the mistake rule over you consistently is wrong. Give yourself room to make mistakes and learn valuable lessons. Don’t let it become a critic, questioning yourself all the time, overthinking and then, self-sabotaging. So, how do you deal with this inner critic?
● To start, your inner critic is your fear talking right? How about you responding positively? Your fear is genuine. We are all dazed with fear at one point or the other. You should affirm yourself positively. Respond to negative self-talk with positive self-talk.
● Become self aware. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Don’t be caught off guard by overthinking. Young black women should be quite watchful of their health. Overthinking is a very quick way to ill health, heart disease like being hypertensive or getting a high blood pressure etc. Know yourself and don’t leave room for fear to creep in.
● Create a safe space in your mind and celebrate every win, either small or big. You can start by taking yourself out on a date. Just you. Go to the spa. Anything to put you in a good mood. Every win is a win regardless. It helps to quickly silence your inner critic.
● Talk to someone about how you feel. Don’t let your mind play tricks on you. Share your thoughts with friends and family. Get words of encouragement from others. Remember that, your inner critic plays a perspective that is not true most of the time. Let someone you trust help you paint the right picture.
● Also, try journaling. Write sweet notes to yourself. Write out your thoughts. Create a list of positive experiences you have had. Even, forecast your future in a good light. You know, growing past your inner critic is possible. Do not let your inner critic rule over you.
You have got everything covered. You didn’t count bridges to get to where you are. You did the job. Go on and do more amazing things.
